Tenor horn star Sheona White is to return to her musical roots this month when she performs as guest soloist in a concert alongside her first band of Dunaskin Doon, who are celebrating their 150th anniversary.
Sheona left Scotland to pursue an exciting musical career, one which has blossomed both professional as a teacher and as a player in many of the world's finest brass bands.
150 year history
Dunaskin Doon was originally formed as a works band in 1869, based around an old ironworks at Waterside, near Patna.
Although the furnaces have long since fallen silent, they have continued to be a proud ambassador for the town entertaining at local community gala days and events, as well as contesting throughout the UK.

Success
Under the baton of MD Chris Bradley, the band has enjoyed a fine run of form of late — posting their highest ever result in their history in coming fifth at this year's Championship Section under guest conductor Gareth Brindle.
The concert takes place in the Howard Centre, Portland Road, Kilmarnock on Saturday 11th May (7.30pm).
