The north of England banding world has been saddened to hear of the death of the hugely respected former Ever Ready player Jimmy McNestry — referred to by everyone as 'Jimmy Mac'.
Jimmy was a hugely respected member of the highly successful Ever Ready Band of the 1970s and 1980s, and along with Dave Carr made an exceptional Eb tuba partnership; Dave with the technique and Jim with his lyrical style from years as a solo euphonium player.
Funeral
Jimmy had played euphonium for the City of Coventry Band (sitting next to Roy Castle no less) and joined Ever Ready on tuba when he returned to the North East.
The current band will play at his funeral on April 18th at 11.45am at Mountsett Crematorium. Any former players are invited to come along to give him a fitting band send off.
