Keep your eyes peeled for Dave Benson Phillips cranking it up at Youth Champs!

The popular television presenter will bring his effervescent personality to the National Youth Championships in Warwick School this weekend to increase the fun factor for everyone involved.

Parents, families, supporters and performers are going to be thoroughly entertained at this weekend's National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain — and not just by the music either.

One of the guest comperes for the event will be Dave Benson Phillips, recognisable to children of all ages as the host of the brilliant 'Get Your Own Back' on BBC television, who will be appearing throughout the weekend at Warwick School.

Popular

Dave has been one of the most popular children's presenters on television for over 30 years — so there may even be a few grandparents that will have enjoyed him on programmes such as 'Playbus', which later became 'Playdays', the BAFTA-nominated 'Get Your Own Back', and Disney's 'Wake Up in The Wild Room'.

He is also well known for starring in the best-selling 'Fun Song Factory' video series, 'Petswap' with Fearne Cotton, 'Nick Jnr' for Nickelodeon and 'Words and Pictures' and 'Go For It' for BBC Education.

Dave will compere the proceedings in the Bridge House Theatre where the Intermediate and Debut Sections take place, and will also be appearing at Warwick Hall during the Elementary and Championships Sections.

Sharing the compere roles will be another Dave — the well known and popular brass band presenter David Hayward, who will be the main compère there.

Speaking about the great news that is sure to add fun to the day, BBE Partnership & Development Manager, Alex Parker (who admits to being young enough to have grown up with Dave's antics over the years!), told 4BR: "We can't wait to see the energy and enthusiasm that Dave Benson Phillips will bring to the event.

June 16 • Longridge Band invite applications for the positions of Flugel and Eb Bass.. We are a friendly and committed band that enjoys a great balance of concerts and contests throughout the year. A contribution to travel expenses are provided.


Harrogate Band

June 15 • After a fantastic result at the Wetherby Drovers Contest, The Harrogate Band are looking for a front row and a back row cornet player to complete the team. Rehearsals Weds 8pm with occasional Sundays at our own bandroom with great transport links


Tintwistle Band

June 15 • We have a vacancy for soprano cornet, and with lots of exciting engagements coming up would love to get this seat filled!. As a second section band,we rehearse every Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our bandroom in Tintwistle under the baton of MD Jim Henson.
