The St. Pinnock Band, one of the oldest in Cornwall, has been given a new lease of life by the appointment of Colin Hudson as Musical Director.
The band suffered a setback at the end of 2018, when its former MD resigned together with a number of key players, but has since bounced back after Colin's appointment in December last year.
First choice
An internationally renowned soloist and band conductor, Colin had been a good friend of the band for some years, helping out periodically as a player, so when Band Manager, Tim Whitehead started the search for a new MD Colin was first choice.
Since then the band has developed into a hard-working and friendly ensemble with the aim of re-establishing themselves — something they certainly showed in claiming third place at the recent Second Section West of England regional championship in Torquay.
I'm looking forward to working alongside these talented musicians and taking the band from strength to strength. I'm also very excited about several new projects that will modernize the outlook of the bandColin Hudson
Looking forward
Speaking of the future, Colin told 4BR: "I'm looking forward to working alongside these talented musicians and taking the band from strength to strength. I'm also very excited about several new projects that will modernize the outlook of the band."
Building on this promising result, the band is now working hard towards an exciting schedule of concert venues, including one at the famous Minnack Theatre in April and Sterts Theatre in Liskeard in May.
