4BR has been informed that the inspirational conductor Christine Hartmann is to step down from her role as Musical Director of the pioneering Brass Band Regensburg in Germany.
Since her appointment in 2013 the band has enjoyed an unprecedented period of concert and contest successes, including victories at the German Open and Deutsche Brass Band events and gaining a podium finish in the Challenge Section of the 2017 European Brass Band Championships.
Farewell appearance
A concert weekend at the beginning of April in Bavaria will mark her farewell appearance with a band that is now actively looking for the right person to take over the reins and musical direction.
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Christine has been an inspirational person who has done so much to develop us as a British style brass band.
We work closely with the experienced Dave Lea in the UK and we are keen to ensure we develop further under a new conductor who shares our passion and musical aims."
