With the first of the 2019 Regional Championship events due to take place this weekend in Blackpool, the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) has told 4BR that their members are looking forward to adjudicating the five 'superb pieces' chosen to test the competing bands.

Superb pieces

Chairman Mark Wilkinson said: "We believe the Kapitol Music Panel has done a marvellous job of choosing five superb pieces for this year's Regional Championships — all of which will prove to be a great test for the competitors."

AoBBA has also been encouraged by Regional Secretaries contacting them to engage their members for the all important task, and has expressed its pleasure that a progressive working relationship is being created.

One of their most respected practitioners is Public Relations Office David Hirst, who told 4BR: "Our members offer experience and expertise in fulfilling these exacting roles in such an important series of competitions."

Feedback

He added: "AoBBA also encourages constructive post-contest feedback from conductors, players and particularly contest organisers on adjudication issues so that we can work together to maintain the very highest standards for the benefit of banding.

That helps us continue to promote and develop membership that is made up of highly professional adjudicators that pride themselves on continuously updating their skill sets."
