It's been another great month on the All Brass Radio station. After the Christmas tunes were replaced in the playlist, we decided to change things a little.
All the former Top 20 tracks have been kept, but we have gone through our vast collection of CDs and picked tracks we thought would be interesting. We have also shortened the playlist to 300 tracks.
New releases
During January, several new CDs have come to us — bought and donated, but nothing can end the lasting appeal of the beautiful cornet playing of Kirsty Abbotts. She was kind enough to send us her 2015 solo CD and ever since her playing has been a wonderful feature on the playlist.
The podium places are by no means new to the top of the list. Kirsty is there with 'You Raise Me Up' once more, but its 'Chariots of Fire' that tops the pile. In third comes Desford Colliery playing 'Love Changes Everything'.
Ebbw Valley Brass has come close with the fun of 'Fat Bottom Girls' by Queen, but one track we can see as a new entry is the Osaka Harmony Band from Japan playing 'Suki Yaki'. They seem to have great fun playing it and a good part of the band sings the tune at the end!
Top Brass
Over five years ago, the British Army Brass Band contacted us and asked if we could play tracks from their then new CD, 'Top Brass'. This month they make the top 20 with the big band classic, 'Birdland'.
Another first is a track from the Hylton Collection, with Atlantic Brass Band with 'Hylton in the Hall'.
February fund raiser
All Brass Radio will have a fund-raiser in February to help build two new apps.
We would love to have a current iOS and Android app where you can easily listen to All Brass Radio from your phone or tablet. It would also include the voting feature so listeners can vote on tracks when on the go.
AllBrassRadio.com is an internet radio station that plays commercial-free brass band music 24/7/365. It runs completely on donations. If you like listening to the station, please consider becoming a donor.
You can tune into the station and/or give a donation at www.allbrassradio.com
