Fodens will be hoping to find another great composer ...

Foden's Band has announced that they have linked up with the 'Love Music Trust' (LMT) to launch a brand new Composer Competition.

The competition will have two categories; 18 Years &Under and Over 18, with entrants asked to compose a 4-minute concert piece suitable for youth bands. The submitted pieces will be judged by a panel of LMT and Foden's members and shortlisted to a final four.

Strengthen

Band Manager Mark Wilkinson told 4BR: "We are pleased to strengthen our existing partnership with the LMT by announcing the launch of this initiative."

Foden's will also make arrangements to have all four works published, and in addition, all will be performed at a special event in June, where the National Champion will partner the LMT in a 'Youth Festival' to be held at Clonter Opera in Congleton.

We are pleased to strengthen our existing partnership with the LMT by announcing the launch of this initiativeMark Wilkinson

Great opportunity

LMT spokesperson, John Barber told 4BR: "The Love Music Trust supports an ensembles network that engages more than 1000 young people taking part in instrumental and vocal ensembles each week in Cheshire East.

As part of that network we are proud to work with a range of fantastic youth brass bands including Lions Youth Band, Macclesfield Youth Brass Band, Poynton Youth Brass Band and Foden's Youth Band. The competition is a great initiative that will provide a wonderful opportunity for composers performed by these super bands."

Closing date

The closing date for entries is the 12th April.
