B&S, Besson Courtois artist and London Symphony Orchestra Principal Trumpet Phil Cobb made a welcome visit to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire this week to give a masterclass, work directly with students and give an invaluable insight into the life of a professional musician with one of the world's leading orchestras.
Staggering
It proved to be an inspirational visit according to Head of Brass Band studies Ian Porthouse, who told 4BR: "This really was something special. Phil was so generous with his time and his playing was simply staggering.
The performances he gave of 'Jubilance' and 'Dark Haired Marie' with the Conservatoire Brass Band took the breath away, and the insight and tips he passed on to our cornet and trumpet students were invaluable."

Thanks
He added: "Nothing was too much trouble and the effect he had on the students was amazing. My thanks go to him and the Buffet Group for accepting our invitation. He can come back as many times as he wants!"
