Easington Colliery has announced that they will renew their musical partnership with conductor Daniel Brooks at the 2019 North of England Regional Championships.

It follows the duo's successful outing at the Bolsover Festival of Brass in October, where their fine runner-up finish also saw them claim a place in the line-up for the Senior Trophy at the British Open Spring Festival in May.

No stranger

The Elland Silver MD is no stranger to the Gala Theatre in Durham, making a successful debut last year with North Skelton Band, who he led to the Second Section title.

Easington Colliery Band Manager Peter Lawson told 4BR: "We're delighted Daniel accepted our offer to take us to the Area Championship. He brought a spark that ignited the band at Bolsover this year and we are confident he can keep that fire going and get us a result in Durham."

Easington is a hardworking band, so I was more than happy to take up the offer. They are really on the up and I can't wait to get working with them on the Area test-pieceDaniel Brooks

Hardworking

In response Daniel added: "Easington is a hardworking band, so I was more than happy to take up the offer. They are really on the up and I can't wait to get working with them on the Area test-piece.

It's also great to have a strong helping force with Peter Lawson and excellent pre-contest preparation from new MD Jonathan Fenwick. I'm sure the band will continue to flourish in 2019 and I'm looking forward to being a part of that."
