Murray Greig, principal trumpet with the Orchestra of Opera North has been made a Fellow (FRNCM) of the Royal Northern College of Music.
A former alumni, he has gained a worldwide reputation as an orchestral performer and chamber musician through his work with the likes of the Brass Ensemble of Opera North, the Orfeo Trumpet Consort and the Golden Section (previously the Wallace Collection), as well as recording with the London Trumpet Sound.
Honour
The Royal Northern College of Music's Congregation of Awards were held earlier this month, with Honorary Memberships (HonRNCM) and Fellowships (FRNCM) being presented to a number of musicians, educators, industry leaders and advocates.
Murray received his Fellowship award alongside violinist Lyn Fletcher, Leader of the Halle Orchestra, and Philippe Dinkle, Head of Haute Ecole de Musique de Geneve.

For over 40 years, the RNCM has awarded Honorary Memberships and Fellowships to world-renowned musicians, conductors, composers, educators, and advocates, including Placido Domingo, Sir John Dankworth, Dame Joan Sutherland, Dame Janet Baker, Sir Mark Elder, András Schiff, Hans Werner Henze and Sir Bernard Lovell.
