New brass solo contest to be held at Loughborough Schools Foundation

A brand new brass solo competition is to be held at the Loughborough Schools Foundation.

  The event is being opened up to welcome all brass band players

The Loughborough Schools Foundation has announced plans for a new brass solo competition.

Taking place on Sunday 3rd February at the Foundation's Amherst School Chapel, the event is split into three categories: Under 11s; Under 15s and Under 19s.

Adjudication

The adjudicator will be Principal Trumpet of the Orchestra of Opera North and RNCM professor, Murray Greig, with Windblowers music shop in Nottingham generously donating vouchers for the winners of each section.

Head of Wind, Brass & Percussion, Aidan Geary told 4BR: "We're delighted to have secured the services of Murray for the event and pleased to be opening it out to the wider brass community."

West Wycombe Brass Band

January 10 • West Wycombe Brass Band are looking for Cornets and Horns (negotiable) and a Flugelhorn player. All ages and standards are very welcome. Friendly Band in Buckinghamshire Village. Instruments provided if required. Own Bandroom.


Harlow Brass Band

January 10 • We are a friendly and welcoming band who hold our own Spring and Christmas concerts. We also play at various local events throughout the year. We have vacancies for BACK ROW CORNETS, TROMBONES and PERCUSSION.


Epping Forest Band

January 10 • We are a friendly 3rd section band that have a vacancy for a solo horn to complete our line up. We perform in a variety of gigs and contests throughout the year. Our band hut is located close to Epping tube station and easy access for the M11.
