The death has been announced of George Annan, the founder of Perthshire Brass, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday (28th November) surrounded by his family.
A well known and highly respected musician, conductor and teacher in the Scottish brass band movement, he set up the band in 1978, leading them in contests for many years — including a memorable Scottish Championship Third Section title victory in 1993.
Life membership
He was presented with SBBA Life Membership Medal in 2016, whilst his family remains intrinsically involved with the band through his sons Jim, George and Dave, daughter Elaine and daughter in law Clair. His two grandchildren, Ross and Evie, played with Perthshire Youth Brass at the recent Scottish Festival of Brass Youth Championships.
Funeral
The funeral will take place at 1.00pm on Monday 10th December in St John's Kirk, Perth.
