Are you covered for Trustee Indemnity?
If you're not, your personal assets and that of all committee members could be at risk.
You can be held personally liable for decisions, actions and omissions made when making arrangements and entering into contracts on behalf of the band.
Liable
You can also be held personally liable for compensation awarded to a third party following wrongful actions of band members such as personal injury caused to a member of the public, band practice or events causing a nuisance to a neighbour, or a breach in contract.
Trustee members may also become the target of creditors for any band debts.
It is also not a defence if your name and signature is not on the contact; if the committee has authorised the contract, every single member can be held equally liable.
