Young players invited to enjoy National Youth Brass Band of Scotland experience

Young Scottish players can enjoy the unique experience of being part of the various National Youth Brass Bands of Scotland.

NYBBS
The NYBBS offer wonderful opportunities for young players

Following the news that Ian Porthouse is to lead the 2019 Easter Course of the National Youth Brass Bands of Scotland (NYBBS), applications are now open for players aged from the age of 9 to 22 to enjoy the unique experience.

Senior Band

The senior National Youth Brass Band is the premier level youth ensemble of the organisation and will be led by Ian alongside a tutorial team of leading instrumentalists and clinicians.

NYBBS is regularly involved with high-profile performance opportunities and has enjoyed numerous international tours including acclaimed visits to Germany and Japan.

Reserve Band

Meanwhile, the National Youth Reserve Brass Band of Scotland will be conducted by John Boax, and offers players aged 14 -22 inclusive the opportunity to further nurture their playing skills as they develop towards the senior band.

It offers its members plenty of inspiration, support and opportunities to progress, guided by a collection of highly experienced musicians and additional performance opportunities, making it an ideal stepping stone up to the next stage.

Childrens Band

The starter point for players is the National Children's Brass Band of Scotland conducted by Gordon Evans, which provides a wonderful opportunity for young, less experienced musicians (aged 13 or under), to enjoy the pleasures of playing in a full band of like-minded enthusiasts.

The band is led and supported by a team of dedicated and experienced musicians, offering a perfect introduction to the wider world of brass band music and highlighting the many opportunities music can provide aspiring players.
