Black Dyke recently held their annual Awards Gala Dinner at the majestic setting of Norton Grange Hotel and Spa in Castleton.
Wonderful evening
The band was joined by guests and trustees for an event which was organised by Alison Childs, who told 4BR: "It was a wonderful evening — one where everyone could relax and look back on another busy and successful year."
She added: "It's also the time which the band can recognise those who have given so much to the organisation in the past year or more, with the Bandsman of the Year award presented to second baritone player Ben Wright and the prestigious Pondasher Award going to our long serving cornet player John O'Brien."
Proud
On accepting his accolade Ben told 4BR: "I'm so proud to have been recognised in this way — especially as it that was made even better as I could enjoy it with my wife Sumayah."
Meanwhile, John added: "I've been very fortunate to play with this great band for nearly 20 years and I'm delighted to also be the Band Secretary. The Pondasher Award means a great deal — especially as it comes from people who I regard as great friends."
