The concert will take place at Regent Hall.

The centenary of the birth of composer Wilfred Heaton will be marked by a free concert at Regent Hall on Oxford Street in London this Friday (23rd November — 1.00pm).

It will feature Fulham Brass conducted by John Ward alongside guest soloist Tom Nielsen as part of the Regent Hall Lunchtime Concert Series.

Important composer

John told 4BR: "We're really excited to be acknowledging such an important composer and in such an iconic venue."

The programme will include works such as 'The Golden Pen', 'Variations-Celestial Prospect', 'Martyn', 'Le Tricot Rouge', 'My Treasure' and 'Victory for Me'.

Tom Nielsen, the current leader of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and holder of the BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award will perform 'Variations for Cornet and Band — Annie Laurie'.

Celebrate

John added: "There are events to celebrate the anniversary, but we're not aware of one taking place in London, so it's a great opportunity to hear some wonderful music, a great soloist and learn about Wilfred Heaton from his son-in-law, Bryan Stobart, who will be compering the programme."
