Lions Youth Brass has been given a great financial boost as they continue their efforts to raise the £25,000 required to send their 50 youngsters and tutors to represent England at the European Youth Brass Band Championships in Montreux next year.
The band qualified for the honour after coming runner-up at the National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain earlier this year.
The boost came from their friends at Roberts Bakery Band and National Champion Foden's, both of whom have long standing musical connections to the band, with a recent joint concert entitled 'From Sandbach to Switzerland' raising the sum of £2,500.
Great opportunities
Lions MD, Nigel Birch told 4BR: "Lions is about giving young people great opportunities, so to play with musicians of the quality of Roberts Bakery and Foden's has been an amazing experience for them to cherish.
Our heartfelt thanks go to both bands for what they have done, and we are now quite a bit closer to our target!"
