Members of Foden's Band took to the airwaves recently to help the BBC bring the story of the First World War into classrooms around the country.

Foden's players helped children with their creative writing skills on the programme

A quartet from National Champion Foden's has just performed on the BBC 'Live Lessons' children's educational series.

Produced by the BBC, the 30-minute programmes are streamed on-line and are aimed to bring subjects as diverse as music and art to computing and sport to life by featuring some of the BBCs biggest brands and presenters — from Doctor Who to Manchester City footballers — and all during the school day.

Creative writing

The programme involving Foden's was to mark the end of the First World War with a creative writing Live Lesson for primary students.

Designed for 7 — 11 year olds, the Remembrance Live Lesson was hosted by BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty and CBBC's Ben Shires and also featured poet Roger Stevens and Charlotte Czyzyk, a historian and project manager for 'Lives of the First World War' at the Imperial War Museums.

The Foden's players performed a number of related tunes as well as 'The Last Post'.
