Brass in Concert filling up to the brim

The attraction of 11 world class bands has ensured that demand for seats at Brass in Concert is closing in on the sold out limits — so why not make a weekend of it at Sage Gateshead and make sure you don't miss out on the musical fun.

The 'sold out' signs are being readied for dusting off for Sunday's entertainment at the forthcoming Brass in Concert Championship at Sage Gateshead.

There has been an excellent response from brass band supporters to what promises to be an exciting day of music making featuring 11 world class bands.

Access to the concourse on Sunday 18th November will open at 8.00am, while compere Frank Renton will commence his introductions at 9.20am before the first band takes to the stage at 9.30am.

Great weekend

It promises to be the start of a great climax to a packed weekend of attractions at Sage Gateshead — which includes the inaugural Youth Brass in Concert Championship on Saturday 17th alongside attractions such as a masterclass from trumpet virtuoso Mike Lovatt at the Northern Rock Foundation Hall at 4.00pm.

Speaking to 4BR BiC spokesperson John Woods said: "Once again we've been delighted by the response of our loyal and knowledgeable supporters to what promises to be a superb day of entertainment on Sunday.

The inaugural Youth Brass in Concert event on Saturday also promises to be a brilliant event — and we look forward to welcoming as many people as possible to hear these talented youngsters perform."

He added: "All that and the Saturday is rounded off with a tremendous concert with Foden's, Matt Ford and Mike Lovatt presenting a not to be missed 'Sinatra and the Swing Legends' set.

Boarshurst Silver Band

February 17 • Boarshurst Silver Band, NW Championship Section, requires a BBb player, flugel, and front row cornet player. Under MD Jamie Prophet, the band have an ambitious and varied calendar for 2025, including NW Area, Spring Festival and Whit Friday.


Mid Rhondda Band

February 14 • Mid Rhondda Band are looking for the following players : Front Row Cornet, Solo Trombone, Eb Bass, Kit and Tuned Percussionists. The band will be competing in the 3rd Section at the Welsh Area. Contest & concert engagements in the diary for 2025
