The Fishburn Band has announced the sad news of the death of their Vice-President and banding stalwart Billy Elliott, aged 71. He passed away in hospital on 11th November.
Huge supporter
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Billy was a huge supporter and a man with extraordinary skills for fund raising.
He had suffered with ill health for some time which necessitated many hospital admissions, though he still continued a connection with the band and was so determined to lead us at the famous Durham Miners Gala that he came on his mobility scooter."

They added: "We heard the news of his death on our Remembrance duties in Birtley, which added an extra feeling of poignancy to the day.
