The Poulton-le-Fylde Band has welcomed the appointment as principal cornet of one of the rising youngsters of north west banding, with 19 year old Robert Lambert taking on the role with immediate effect.
A former member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, Robert will take to his new position whilst carrying on his studies at Lancaster University, as well as those of being one of the UKs brightest young figure skating champions.
Youth and experience
Robert takes over from long-term incumbent Neil Jones, who has been at Poulton-le-Fylde Band for four decades but who has decided to help impart his experience from the 'bumper-up' seat.
Chairman, Andy Moore, told 4BR: "Robert is an extremely committed player, and it has been great to witness his development as he was first attending our youth band less than a decade ago.
He is learning from the best though, as Neil has been an incredible asset to the band as principal cornet for many years."

Best wishes
The band also took the opportunity to wish solo euphonium Glenn MacPhee the very best after relocating to Stornoway due to work commitments. The MacPhee family have enjoyed a long and valued association with the band.
