The recent appearance of the National Youth Band of Great Britain alongside the London Symphony Orchestra and London Symphony Chorus in a concert commemorating the centenary of the end of the First World War, has attracted widespread acclaim.

'All the Hills and Vales Along' by James MacMillan, and conducted by Gianandrea Noseda at London's Barbican on the weekend was described by Erica Jeal, writing in The Guardian newspaper, as a 'practical, performable piece and all to the good', whilst the 'full brass power is saved for moments of greatest effect', whose playing 'was first rate'.

Hear the performance

You can hear the concert 'For the Fallen' on Thursday evening (8th November) at 7.30pm on a 'Radio 3 in Concert' broadcast presented by Martin Handley.
