According to Festival Artistic Director Paul Hindmarsh, the list of performers at the 2019 Royal Northern College of Music Brass Band Festival is a veritable 'Who's Who' of the best artistic talent the banding world has to offer.
Performers
Tickets for the showcase event that will run from the 25th-27th January are now on sale, with listeners able to enjoy major performances of outstanding repertoire from Foden's, RNCM Brass Band, Brighouse & Rastrick, Junior RNCM Brass Band, The International Staff Band of the Salvation Army, Black Dyke, Fairey, Foden's Youth Band, Tredegar and Cory.
Internationally acclaimed soloists Ian Bousfield and David Childs will be featured in major concerto works as well as giving recital performances, whilst there will be a 'Young Artist Spotlight' with prize winners from the 2018 European Soloists Competition and an illustrated talk by the Festival's Artistic Director Paul Hindmarsh on the life and work of Wilfred Heaton.

Paul told 4BR: "It really is a 'Who's Who' of the most remarkable composing and performing talent, with a celebration of the centenary of Wilfred Heaton's birth forming the major cornerstone of the festival weekend with a host of works from his remarkable, yet enigmatic pen."

Retrospectives
He added: "There are also timely 80th and 60th anniversary retrospectives of John McCabe and Sir James MacMillan, whose works sit alongside those from Bliss, Elgar, Werner Henze, Howells, Ellerby, Gregson and Wilby, major concerto performances from Ian Bousfield and David Childs as well as the likes of Steve Stewart and Brett Baker, and a welcome return of the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army."
