Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter our special Halloween quiz — we had a great response.
We put all the correct answers into a specially hollowed out 4BR pumpkin head and picked out the winner of the Alliance gold-rimmed Bert van Thienen soprano cornet mouthpiece worth over £100 courtesy of our friends at Band Supplies.
Quiz winner
That was Lars Blomgren from Sweden who knew his macabre dance music.
He correctly answered that Camille Saint Saens was the French composer who wrote the famous 'Dance Macabre' that featured Death playing a violin to awaken the dead on Halloween night before a cockerel sounded the time for them to jump back into their graves for another year.
Lars plays cornet and occasionally the soprano for his local Salvation Army Band in Kristinehamn and is a keen follower of 4BR.
We are preparing for a special ABBA concert next month where I think I will need the help of the mouthpiece because some of the soprano parts are quite high in the pop songs!Lars Blomgren

"It keeps everyone in Sweden up to date with what is happening in the brass band world,"he said when we contacted him with the news.
"I enjoy the coverage you give of events. We are preparing for a special ABBA concert next month where I think I will need the help of the mouthpiece because some of the soprano parts are quite high in the pop songs!"
