Last month saw Brass Bands England [BBE] present its first 'Artistic Development Day' in Thornbury near Bristol. The event, led by Cory MD Philip Harper was the first of a series of roadshows to be delivered by BBE over the course of the next three and a half years.
Notable success
Feedback from the day certainly showed that it was a notable success, as delegates found a great deal to consider and act upon from Philip's in-depth look at the various facets and processes of artistic leadership — from concert planning and collaboration to rehearsal technique and band marketing.
Highlights
The day was recorded by BBE with a small highlights package now available at:

Adapt and improve
BBE Development Manager Sophie Anderson told 4BR: "We hope these events will help transform the brass band community as the sessions are presented by industry leaders and promotes best practice to bands.
They challenge us all to be self-reflective and how we can adapt, improve and refine our artistic output and delivery."
Sophie added: "We have another two seminars ready to launch in the New Year and we're looking forward to getting out to meet the banding communities across England."
