The East Anglian Brass Band Association recently held its annual Brass Training Day at the Hewett Academy in Norwich, where over 80 delegates aged 10 and up had enrolled for a course led by the players of the world's number 1 ranked band, Cory.
Andante and Allegro
Two bands were established for the course — the Andante Band for less experienced players, and the Allegro Band for more established performers.
Led by euph star by Sion Jones, the Andante Band studied works from around the globe, including New Zealand ('Pokarekare Ana'), the Caribbean ('Yellow Bird'), Brazil ('Brejerio'), Egypt ('Streets of Cairo'), and Russia ('Trepak').
The Allegro Band came under the command of Course Leader, Glyn Williams, as they studied 'Castell Coch', 'Balken Dance', 'Gota' and 'The World's Greatest Storyteller'.
Tutors Tom Hutchinson, Helen Williams, Ailsa Russell, Chris Thomas and Robert Nicholson also gave a musical hand to help both ensembles, whilst the delegates enjoyed accompanying Helen on 'Under the Boardwalk'.
The event was thoroughly enjoyed by the delegates with the amazing Cory tutors. The Association wishes to thank Glyn, Helen, Ailsa, Chris, Robert, Tom and Sion for an excellent dayChristine Wade
