'SA Bandsman', the monthly magazine for Salvation Army brass musicians and bands, has been re-launched under a new title, 'SA Band World'.
It will be published by Brass Band World magazine's publisher, Kapitol Media Ltd for its owner, Salvation Army Trading Company (SATCoL).
The magazine suspended publication from July to September this year due to the sale of 'British Bandsman' by KGC Media Ltd, which was publishing and distributing 'SA Bandsman' for SATCoL.
New partner
SATCoL Managing Director, Trevor Caffull told 4BR: "For the past three years or so, 'SA Bandsman' has been published by KGC Media Ltd, which owned 'British Bandsman'. Following protracted negotiation with an interested purchaser that did not proceed to sale, 'British Bandsman' was acquired by IBB Media.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to publish 'SA Bandsman' for three months from July to September, or to comment on its short-term suspension due to the obvious confidentiality of these sale negotiations.
However, once the sale to IBB Media had concluded, and given the new owner's decision to publish 'British Bandsman' online only, SATCoL sought a new partner to publish the SA magazine on its behalf."
Apologies
Trevor Caffull added: "With sincere apologies to subscribers for the temporary suspension of SA Bandsman, I am now delighted to announce that, licensed by SATCoL, Kapitol Media is now publishing 'SA Bandsman' as 'SA Band World' — a title that reflects the international editorial perspective of the magazine and with a classy, exciting new look, which I hope will appeal to readers."
He also confirmed that the new Editor of 'SA Band World' would be Andrew Blyth, who succeeds founding Editor, Andrew Wainwright.
Trevor Caffull added: "I would like to thank Andrew for his outstanding service since the magazine's inception in 2011 and welcome Andrew Blyth who comes with a worldwide and world-class reputation in SA music-making circles. We are very excited that he has taken this important role."

Excitement
In response the new editor told 4BR: "It is with a real sense of privilege and excitement that I have accepted the editorship of 'SA Band World', which will continue to build and strengthen on the foundation set by 'SA Bandsman'."
Andrew added: "I hope readers find the new-look publication appealing and look forward to continuing its original aim of encouraging Salvation Army brass band musicians worldwide, whilst at the same time extending SA brass band ministry."
It was confirmed to 4BR that due to the three-month break in publication, the renewal date for 'SA Band World' subscriptions will be delayed by an equivalent three months, ensuring that there is no financial loss to subscribers.
