Details have now been released for the opening concerts of the 2018 Regent Hall Brass Arts Festival — the traditional musical aperitif to the National Championship of Great Britain Final at the Royal Albert Hall this weekend.
Thursday
On Thursday 4th October (7.45pm), the Regent Hall Band and Regent Hall Songsters will feature the BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award winner Thomas Nielsen as their guest soloist.
Thomas is the principal cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and has recently become a member of the International Staff Band of The Salvation Army.
Friday
Meanwhile, the opening concert on Friday 5th October (12.30pm) is provided by the Royal Academy of Music Symphonic Brass, directed by Ian Bousfield, who will also be featured as a soloist.
The programme of music will include Arnold's 'Festival Fanfare', 'Street Song' by Michael Tilson Thomas, Barber's 'Mutations from Bach', 'Three Scenes for American Trombone and Brass' by Eric Richards and Giancarlo Castro D'Addona's 'Grand Fanfare'
