Anonymous boost for Bradwell trip to Cheltenham

The London & Southern Counties Fourth Section champion Bradwell Silver has received a wonderful boost from an unknown supporter as they prepare for Cheltenham.

Bradwell Silver Band is looking forward to its appearance at the Cheltenham National Finals after winning the London & Southern Counties Fourth Section Area title earlier in the year.

Fabulous day out

A spokesperson told 4BR: "It's the culmination of years of dedication by the players and Musical Director Brian Keech and no matter the result on 15th September we are determined to perform to our best ability and just as importantly have a fabulous day out."

The band has also befitted from fund raising as well as an anonymous benefactor who has donated the money to pay for their transport costs.

Historic achievement

MD Brian Keech added: "We have been working so hard to create a performance to make all our supporters in the local community and wider Milton Keynes proud.

To compete at the finals as winners of the region is an historic achievement and one that the players will remember for a long time."

Goodbyes

Unfortunately however the band has said goodbye to a stalwart player, as relocation has meant baritone player Martin Oliver will miss out, whilst Cheltenham will also mark the last appearances of Adam Chappell, who is off to universality, Orla Howell, who is taking a year off to go travelling before settling into university life, and Daniel Gaylor, who has secured an engineering apprenticeship.

The spokesperson added: "All three learnt to play as part of our development programme and have become important members of the Bradwell family. We hope this goodbye is not final and they will always be welcome at Bradwell Silver."
