The Thurlstone Band has just enjoyed a memorable trip to Bruges — backed by some wonderful sponsorship support

Thurlstone enjoyed a wonderful trip to Bruges

The Thurlstone Band has just returned from their first ever trip abroad — a four day trip to Bruges in Belgium.

After an early departure from their base in south Yorkshire they made the trip over the Channel to arrive at the four star hotel in central Bruges before spending the evening exploring the town, bars and restaurants.

Fully appreciated

Sunday saw them give a concert in the main square — attracting a huge crowd for a two hour set of music that was appreciated fully.

Another free evening followed before the morning departure to the town of Ypres, where the band gave a concert in the town square in front of another fine audience. A little later the band assembled at the famous Menin Gate to take part in the famous Last Post Ceremony of Remembrance.

Moving experience

MD Graham Bates told 4BR: "This was a moving experience for the band who rose magnificently to the occasion and received high acclaim for the performances of 'Prelude on Lavenham' and 'The Day thou Gavest'."

The mini-tour ended with a return to Bruges for the final evening and a chance to visit some more bars before a couple of hours' morning shopping and sightseeing before the trip home.

This was a superbly organised trip where everything went to plan and everyone played their part both socially and musically. The trip epitomised what we are all about as an organisation: : Everyone pulls together and gets on really wellMD Graham Bates

Thanks

Graham added: "This was a superbly organised trip where everything went to plan and everyone played their part both socially and musically. The trip epitomised what we are all about as an organisation: Everyone pulls together and gets on really well.

Our special thanks go to the West Yorkshire Freemasons and Pennine Industrial Equipment for each donating a set of polo shirts brilliantly made for us by the team for Your Logo Here. Shepley Spring also gave us 500 bottles of Ice Valley water to keep us hydrated throughout the trip.

Perfect fit

He continued: "The service we received from Your Logo Here was outstanding — from initial enquiry to final delivery, including the design and approval of logos and the provision of sample shirts to ensure a perfect fit.

The whole band was delighted with the look and quality and they certainly helped the trip feel even more special. We certainly would not hesitate to use Your Logo Here again."
