The Scottish Brass Band Association is already looking towards 2019 with its trio of National Youth Bands.

There are three bands in the NYBBS organisation

The Scottish Brass Band Association has announced that they are inviting applications from young players to become part of its trio of 2019 National Youth Brass Bands of Scotland (NYBBS).

SBBA Education Manager John Boax told 4BR: "NYBBS offers young brass and percussion players aged from 9 to 22 the opportunity to perform challenging, exciting and diverse brass repertoire under the guidance of an expert tutorial team.

We hope those who have already enjoyed the experience and those who would love to be part of it will get in touch."

Children's Band

Players aged 9 to 13 can apply to be part of the National Children's Brass Band of Scotland.

The band is led and supported by a team of dedicated, experienced musicians, offering a perfect introduction to aspiring young players to brass band music making.

Reserve Band

The National Youth Reserve Brass Band of Scotland caters for players aged 14 to 22 who wish to develop their playing talents to a higher level, eventually leading to the senior National Youth Band.

It offers a blend of inspiration, support and opportunities to progress, guided by highly experienced musicians — making it an ideal stepping stone to the next stage in the player's development.

Senior Band

The senior National Youth Brass Band of Scotland is the premier level youth ensemble and offers the opportunity for the best young performers to express their musical skills and ambitions.

The band is led by internationally renowned conductors such as Musical Director Russell Gray and Musical Director Emeritus, Richard Evans. They are supported by a tutorial team of leading instrumentalists and clinicians, offering members a unique opportunity to learn from the very best.

The trio of NYBBS ensembles are regularly involved with high-profile performance opportunities with recent engagements including the opening of the Scottish Parliament, the Perth Proms, the Aberdeen International Festival of Youth and a collaborative project at Celtic Connections in 2013.

We hope those who have already enjoyed the experience and those who would love to be part of it will get in touch4BR
