Fancy learning from the great Richard Evans?

BrassPass.tv has announced that it is to launch an exclusive new conducting course with Richard Evans.

New or inexperienced

Managing Director Martin Gernon told 4BR: "Richard is one of our most distinguished conductors with a worldwide pedigree in conducting bands and ensembles.

The series, which is aimed at new or inexperienced conductors probably involved with Fourth or Third Section bands, covers the essential basics.

Richard will look at preparation and baton technique, how to conduct different repertoire, programme planning and conquering intonation and balance problems. There will also be an invaluable insight into improving your compere skills — often the scariest part of the conductor's art."

Take part

Martin added: "We are looking for three 'wannabe' conductors to take part in the series, which will be filmed over one weekend in the northwest of England with a full band accompaniment. We want to see the journey of improvement that each conductor makes.

The course is absolutely free to the three conductors chosen and is a fantastic opportunity to hone skills with one of the world's best!"
