The Rothwell Temperance Band has announced the death of former tenor horn player, Mark Lowe.
Mark enjoyed a fine banding career — one that saw him progress through the ranks of the Kippax and Wallace Arnold Rothwell Bands before joining Rothwell Temperance in 2005 following a successful spell with Black Dyke.
Immaculate
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Known for his reliability on stage and immaculate technique, Mark was instrumental in the most successful period in the band's history, helping to gain victories at the All England Masters in 2006 and Yorkshire Regional Championship in 2009.
He also played a major role in helping achieve five consecutive appearances at the National Championships of Great Britain between 2008 and 2012."
Huge support
They added: "As well as his contribution as a player Mark was an enormously generous supporter of the band via his company Aqua Enviro. He sponsored the CD release 'Christmas Collection', as well as purchasing weatherproof jackets for use at the Whit Friday march contests.
Mark will be greatly missed but also warmly remembered by all who had the pleasure of sharing a stage with him. The bands sends it heartfelt wishes, love and support to his family at this difficult time."
