St Dennis
St Dennis will hope for even more success as they make a new link with the experienced Derek Greenwoood

The St Dennis Band has announced that it has linked up with one of Cornwall's most experienced brass band musicians.

Derek Greenwood, who led the likes of Camborne, St Austell, St Keverne and St Dennis to impressive success during his long conducting career, has accepted the role of Music Consultant with immediate effect.

He recently provided MD Darren Hawken with invaluable help and advice leading up to their successful podium finish at the Senior Cup and their victory at the famous Bugle contest.

Thrilled

Darren told 4BR: "I'm thrilled Derek has accepted the invitation to take on this new and important consultancy role with us.

His knowledge and experience will prove to an invaluable asset to both me and the band, ensuring that we make further progress as a concert and contest outfit."

Impressed

In response Derek commented: "I'm equally delighted to be involved with St Dennis once again. Having worked with them before the Spring Festival and Bugle contests I was so impressed with the way Darren works with his band.

His musicianship is a breath of fresh air to Cornish banding and it's easy to see why the band continues to improve so much under his baton. It will be a great pleasure to work with them all as I'm sure there will be further exciting times ahead."
