As previously reported on 4BR, the Footscray-Yarraville City Band from Melbourne will be heading to Europe later this year to pay their musical respects to those who fell in service to the Australian nation thousands of miles from their homeland during the First World War.
The trip has been partly funded by support from the Victorian High Commissioner, Ken Ryan AM and James Hancock of the Tait Foundation, although the band is making a concerted effort to help meet the substantial costs by launching a fund-raising campaign of its own.
The Silent ANZAC
Performances of the band's critically acclaimed show, 'The Silent ANZAC' will be the cornerstone of the tour, which will start on November 3rd, as well as a live-streamed performance at the 'Last Post Ceremony' at Menin Gate.
The band will also give performances at the Australian War Memorial, Villers Brettoneux, Amiens, Australia House and Southwark Cathedral in the UK.
Through our fund-raising coordinator Lorraine Wright we are organising the sale of poppies and wreaths that will be laid on behalf of families at the Menin Gate and the war cemeteries that we travel toFootscray-Yarraville City Band

A spokesperson for the band told 4BR: "Through our fund-raising coordinator Lorraine Wright we are organising the sale of poppies and wreaths that will be laid on behalf of families at the Menin Gate and the war cemeteries that we travel to. These ceremonies will be live streamed back to Australia."
The band's new CD, 'The Endless Silence', to coincide with the tour will be available from the band's website from Friday 20th July.
Next week will see a Crowdfunding a campaign to pay for the band's First World War bass drum and four soloists to travel to Europe for the tour.
