An audience over 3000 people enjoyed the Yorkshire champion's concert performance which included music from Strauss, Verdi, Puccini and Fucik to Jerry Herman and Leroy Anderson.

Magnificent backdrop

Director of Music Prof Nicholas Childs told 4BR: "Now in its 24th year, the Innsbruck Promenade series invites the very best performers in Europe to perform against the magnificent backdrop of the Hofburg Palace.

The audience was packed into the courtyard area and thoroughly appreciated our programme which showcased everything from 'Festmusik der Stadt Wien' and the overture from the opera 'Die Fledermaus' to Gordon Langford's 'Great British Marches' which had everyone clapping along."

The appreciation and promotion of high quality music making in Austria is wonderful — and we had a memorable time thanks to the excellent organization and warm welcome we receivedProf Nicholas Childs
