The newly appointed Director of Music of the Welsh Guards, Major David Barringer is being presented with his MBE by Her Majesty the Queen in Scotland this week.
Dave, who is also a well known and respected conductor within the brass band world made his first appearance in his new senior role at Buckingham Palace recently.
Full career
He joined the British Army in September 1989, studying at the Army Junior School of Music, Pirbright, and the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall before joining the Band of the Coldstream Guards in 1993.
In 2007, he was posted to HQ DCAMUS and commissioned in post in 2008. He has since held the roles of Director of Music, The Band of the Royal Corps of Signals become a lead officer in the design and implementation of Future of Army Music (FAM) 2020 and a Review Team leader on the CGS Army Inspectorate at Army HQ.

MBE award
He was appointed Director of Music at The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland in 2017. He was awarded the MBE in this year's New Year Honours list for his work whilst with the Army Inspectorate.
