The wonderful Rising Sun Inn based in the Forest of Dean is home to 'Sunday Evening Brass Bands' throughout the summer months — with the entertainment starting this Sunday (1st July) with the Lydney Training Band.
Owners Martin and Nikki Roach have been running the events for three years, bringing back a great tradition to the pub which was once a regular home for many brass bands concerts.
Mini-stage
The beautiful beer garden is an ideal setting and even has a natural 'mini-stage' so the sounds of the performers can be heard in the surrounding woods for many miles.
"When I was young I remember coming to hear the bands on a Sunday evening and loving it,"the pub's Brass Bands Coordinator Kris Symonds told 4BR.
"Over the last few years Martin and Nikki have reintroduced the concerts, but this year will be the first to start in July and go through August."
All bands welcome
Kris revealed that all levels of bands will be performing — from Training to Championship level and will go ahead even if the sun isn't shining!
"If it's wet the band moves into the function room. Hearing a different band every week is great and the atmosphere is lovely as so many local bands people come along to support each other."
It all takes place at the Rising Sun Inn, Moseley Green, near Parkend from 7.00pm.
