Refreshed after a busy period of high profile State and Ceremonial commitments, the musicians of the Household Division will now focus their attention on the annual Household Division Music Festival.
Running from 26th June to 1st July, they will present various performances in jazz, big band, string orchestra, military band and Guards Brass ensembles.
Spem in Alium
One of the highlights this year will be a special concert by Guards Brass. Entitled 'Galleries' it will take place at the famous Guards Chapel on Birdcage Walk in the heart of London on Thursday 28th June (6.00pm).
The concert will feature the music of Sir Arthur Bliss, Modest Mussorgsky, Giovanni Gabrieli and John Dowland.
The centrepiece will be a specially adapted version by Chris Davies's of 'Spem in Alium' by Thomas Tallis, which was recently given its world premiere by Tredegar Band at Llandaff Cathedral in Cardiff.
Honour
For the performance, the Household Division and Guards Brass will be augmented by members of Tredegar, with the arranger Chris Davies telling 4BR that he was delighted that the work will be heard in such an evocative venue.
"It's a real honour that the work will be performed at the Guard's Chapel — a breathtaking venue and acoustic with such an evocative history. I'm sure the audience will enjoy a concert filled with great music from such iconic composers."
This year's festival will present 16 concerts over 6 days; from lunch time and afternoon recitals to evening concerts commencing at 6.00pm.
Tickets are free of charge and refreshments will be available.
