Fishburn has announced that Lewis Wilkinson will take on the role of Resident Conductor with the Championship Section North of England band.

It comes after Lewis led the Albert Hall National finalist to victory at the recent Easingwold March & Hymn tune contest for the second consecutive year. He will now conduct the band on their forthcoming CD recording.

Greatly impressed

Band Manager, Paul Brickle told 4BR: "Lewis has been involved with the band for some time now, predominantly as our bass trombone player and most recently in a conducting capacity.

He has also been working with numerous bands in the area honing his conducting skills and we have been greatly impressed with how he has developed."

4BR was informed that Lewis will work directly with professional conductor David Hirst.

Looking forward

In response Lewis added: "I'm really looking forward to working with such a great ensemble and hoping that our recent sell-out concerts and win at Easingwold will be a sign of the successful partnership to come."
