England expects...

Hopefully it will be the 4-4-2 in a bar beat of Terrier Brass that will inspire England to success against Costa Rica and then the rest of the world in Russia in the next month..

Terrier Brass
Terrier Brass has already helped Huddersfield Town to success this year

The hopes of English football fans that their team will play at a brisk tempo at this year's World Cup may well rest with manager Gareth Southgate's team selection, but he could no worse than enlist Terrier Brass to keep the pace up when the going gets tough against Tunisia, Panama and Belgium in the next few weeks.

The ensemble was set up by well known conductor Leigh Baker to help create a fervent atmosphere at Huddersfield Town's John Smiths Stadium as they made their Premiership debuts last year.

It certainly helped — especially in a famous win against Manchester United as David Wagner's team went on to defy the bookies-odds and hold onto their lucrative position in the league.

Pre-Russia boost

Now, the group is hoping to give the national team a pre-Russia boost as England take on the might of Costa Rica on Thursday evening.

Speaking to the Huddersfield Daily Examiner newspaper, Leigh said: "We've had quite a lot of publicity and coverage this season.

We've done stuff at Canalside pre-match as well as when the players come off the bus, particularly the executioner's drumroll when the opposition team arrive and get off their coach!"

Gareth Southgate should at least make sure the sound of brass defeats the Samba beat of Brazil, the oompah marches of the Germans and the guitar and castanets of Spain...4BR

Forget the sound of Samba...

He added: "We love playing for Town. We're all proud to be Town fans and be part of the match day experience and were proud to be given the opportunity to play for England too!"

If Gareth Southgate wants to bring home the trophy then, he should at least make sure the sound of brass defeats the Samba beat of Brazil, the oompah marches of the Germans and the guitar and castanets of Spain...
