Stockport Silver Band has announced that they will soon become homeless after being given 1 months notice to leave by their landlords.
Plans which they believe exclude them in the proposed expansion of their current, shared rehearsal venue, means that they will now have to leave the Social Centre for the Elderly and Disabled of Stockport.
Saddened
A spokesperson told 4BR: "We are saddened that we believe the landlords have decided to lose a community group that helps meet their charitable aims, with many older members and who regularly supports care homes and local hospices, to pursue another tenant's commercial interests."
The Fourth Section band has been supporting the Stockport community for nearly 150 years and is currently gearing up for those celebrations in 2020 with a new CD and a reunion concert.
Throughout the year the band performs a number of concerts supporting local charities and events as well as competing annually at the Whit Friday marches.
New MD
The band has just confirmed the appointment of Dr Alexander Parker as their Musical Director. He told 4BR: "The band is such an important part of Stockport's community so it's great to be involved as MD.
I'm hopeful that either Stockport Council or a local business will help us find a new, affordable home to allow us to stay in this wonderful community for the next 150 years."

Temporary home
Stockport Silver Band have very kindly been offered temporary rehearsal space at St. Cuthbert's Church in Cheadle however this can only last until August so the band are still desperately seeking a new, permanent home.
