Details have been announced of the free Gala Concert which will close the 2018 International Brass Band Summer School course held at Swansea University on Friday 3rd August.
The concert will feature programmes by the Sovereign and Prestige Bands and will include James Curnow's 'Fanfare and Flourishes', Paul Lovatt-Cooper's 'Through Heaven's Gate', music from 'Harry Potter' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.
The massed band items will include music by John Philip Sousa, Gordon Langford and Tchaikovsky, whilst the featured soloists will be Black Dyke's star euphonium player Daniel Thomas and Cory principal cornet, Tom Hutchinson.
Wonderful atmosphere
An IBBSS spokesperson told 4BR: "The free end of course Gala Concert is always popular with the local community and band lovers, and has a wonderful atmosphere.
Everyone enjoys it — and it's followed of course by the now legendary end of course party!"
