BrassFestUK launches new entertainment contest

An entertainment contest with a difference for Training, Youth and Development bands has been launched by the people behind the successful BrassFest UK project.

Bands will be able to record their programmes in the familiar surrounds of their own rehearsal rooms

Following the success of the recent BrassFestUK composition competition, organiser Rob Tompkins is now looking to add to the list of BrassFestUK events by announcing a BrassFestUK Entertainment Contest to be held in October.

20 minute recording

The contest will be open to all Training, Youth and Development bands. Each competitor will submit a 20 minute recording of a programme of their choice which will be adjudicated by Alan Duguid, Jayne Murrill and Samantha Harrison.

Rob told 4BR: "I know from experience that many of these bands are on the lookout for a chance to perform and this competition will give them all the opportunity to do just that. Recorded in the familiar surroundings of their own bandroom they can really show what they can do."

The competition will be split into three parts: 'Youth' for bands made up of under 19's; 'Development' for bands that have players who have been playing less than 2 years, and 'Training' for all other bands that want to join in and are not registered.

By enabling the bands to record in their own rehearsal facilities we get to hear the band at their best and that is what the adjudicators are looking forward to hearingRob Tompkins

At their best

Rob added: "By enabling the bands to record in their own rehearsal facilities we get to hear the band at their best and that is what the adjudicators are looking forward to hearing."

The closing date for entries is Sunday 30th September, and the recordings must be submitted by Sunday 14th October. The winners will be announced on Sunday 28th October.
