A new work in memory of the much missed conductor, photographer, website designer and brass band lover David Morris will be premiered at this year's Bolsover International Brass Band Summer School.
Founder member
The concert march 'Bolsover Castle' is to be written by Gavin Somerset as a musical tribute to Dave, who passed away last October, and who was one of the summer school's founder members and a tireless volunteer at all Bolsover events.
Carole Hirst, Bolsover International Brass Band Summer School organiser told 4BR: "Everyone was so saddened by the news of Dave's death that it was felt that his commitment to brass banding should be marked in this way.
It's a celebratory march, the type he loved, and we're delighted that it is to be written by Gavin Somerset, as he was such a close friend of him."
Premiere
The work will be premiered at the free end of course concert on Friday 27th July at Heritage High School, Clowne, Chesterfield, Derbyshire (S43 4QG) commencing at 6.45pm.
