Trio of top releases from Pennine Music

Three new fantastic releases from Pennine Music come out just in time for the busy concert season ahead.

Pennine
Three new fantastic works come from Pennine Music

Pennine Music has just blossomed into Spring with two new solos, as well as a light-hearted work with a First World War theme.

First up is a fantastic new horn solo from the pen of Jonathan Bates.

Hushabye Mountain

Especially arranged for Owen Farr, 'Hushabye Mountain' from the movie classic, 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', is a perfect family favourite for all concerts. It features the tuned percussion throughout, and sets the melody initially over a music-box-like foundation, before leading into classic Disney inspired dreamy soundscapes.

Evermore

Meanwhile, 'Evermore' comes from Disney's remake of the 1991 film, 'Beauty and the Beast'. The composer Alan Menken felt that the character of the Beast was missing any major feature song — something put right with this global hit.

Now arranged by Adrian Horn as a wonderful solo for euphonium with brass band accompaniment it is sure to find its way into the hearts of audiences.

There have been a great number of works commemorating the anniversaries of the First World War, but few that brought the humour and slightly colourful wit of some of the songs that were sung back to light!Pennine Music

Hinky Dinky

There have been a great number of works commemorating the anniversaries of the First World War, but few that brought the humour and slightly colourful wit of some of the songs that were sung back to light!

'Hinky Dinky' is a brilliant new concert march based on the famous tune 'Mademoiselle from Armentieres'. The song was one of the most popular of its time — and known in many versions, often with extremely dubious lyrics!

With choreography cued in throughout, the instructions on 'standing' and 'sitting' are intended as a guide only and should be adapted to suit the needs (and athleticism) of individual bands! It's a perfect addition to a band's repertoire for events and concerts.
