Into the Future for BrassFestUK 2018

A new work by Max Stannard will be the musical anthem for the innovative BrassFestUK 2018

Into the Future
The new work will be heard at all BrassFestUK 2018 events

The result of the first BrassFestUK composition contest has been decided, with the anthem for the 2018 Festival selected as 'Into the Future' by Max Stannard.

It was chosen from a wide range of entries by the panel of Christopher Bond, Philip Harper and Gavin Somerset .

Published

Gavin will now work with Max to get the piece ready for publication by Pennine Music and made available for purchase on the Pennine Music Website.

Meanwhile, Rob Tompkins will visit Cory Band to record the work which will be used in the promotion of BrassFestUK 2018.

Really pleased

Rob told 4BR: "I'm really pleased with both the quantity and standard of the works put forward for consideration.

The final four chosen all had excellent merits, but the judging panel agreed that 'Into the Future' both fitted the criteria I had set out and also had that 'catchy tune' both bands and members of the public would enjoy playing and hearing. I feel that with 'Into the Future' we have a very worthy piece for the 2018 Festival."

Congratulate

He added: "I would like to thank all of the composers who entered and congratulate Max on his excellent piece.

I would also like to thank the judging panel for their time and to Pennine Music for agreeing to publish the winning entry. My final thanks go to Philip Harper and Cory Band for allowing me to record the winning piece."
