The new man at the helm hopes ot carry on the great work of the much missed Dave Morris

Woodhouse Prize Band from Yorkshire has announced the appointment of Richard Windle as their new Musical Director.

Much loved

Band Secretary, Gemma Newbery told 4BR: "We are extremely pleased to welcome Richard and look forward to working together to build on the standard set by the late and much loved Dave Morris.

It was essential to find a new MD that would bring enthusiasm and drive to ensure our audiences are thoroughly entertained, something Dave worked so hard on. I'm sure he would consider us to be in safe hands!"

During what has been a difficult period the band was conducted by friends such as Adam Whittle, Gavin Somerset, Jonathan Davis, Cathryn Rodgers, Colum O'Shea and John Thompson.

It would be impossible for me to replace Dave, who meant so much to everyone. All I can do is my best, to respect his legacy and continue the work he startedMD, Richard Windle

Meanwhile, new MD Richard added: "It's a huge privilege to have been asked to take Woodhouse. It's a family band with a proud history, loads of potential and I'm looking forward to getting started with them.

It would be impossible for me to replace Dave, who meant so much to everyone. All I can do is my best, to respect his legacy and continue the work he started."
