The world of brass broadcast from Boarshurst

A brand new Sunday Brass Series of concerts is now being broadcast live over the internet from Boarshurst Band Club. All you have to do is sit back, log in and enjoy...

Boarshurst
The weekly 'Sunday Brass Series' will be broadcast live over the internet.

A brand new brass band concert initiative got off to a great start last weekend with the launch of the 'Sunday Brass Series' at Boarshurst Band Club.

The live internet broadcasts will feature bands in action at the famous venue, with the hope that it will increase both interest and enjoyment in brass band concerts from all corners of the globe.

Into homes

Boarshurst Band Club has promoted a highly successful series of Sunday concerts over many years, but it was felt that the next step was to take the entertainment right into the heart of people's homes, as spokesperson Keith Welsh told 4BR.

"We are keen to enable as many people as possible to enjoy the sound of a brass band in concert, so we felt we could build on what is already a successful series by reaching out via the internet."

The decision follows the success of the a broadcast last year featuring Hammonds Saltaire which was viewed over 160,000 times, whilst the recent Deepcar Band concert broadcast drew over 30,000 views from banding countries such as Brazil, Canada and even Iraq!

Increased profile

The organisers also hope the concerts give the bands an increased profile, with their own Facebook links, whilst they have also ensured that all appropriate permissions for performance have been sought and granted.

Keith added: "We want to give all our bands the chance to reach out and connect to a new audience and with some great names to come we hope this will be a venture that brings brass band concerts into the 21st century.

We have already had a great response from our regular bands who will all be enjoying the experience, plus some pretty famous top-flight bands who have expressed interest in joining us too."

This weekend's concert will be given by Dobcross Youth Band starting at 7.30pm on the dot4BR
